Tuesday Afternoon in Pest

The group managed to find lunch at Oktogon. We are, however, tiring of Turkish cuisine. After lunch, we headed to the House of Terror Museum. All one has to say is Andrássy Út. 60 and memories and stories come flooding out. During and after WW2, the building was used to detain, interrogate, torture or kill victims of both the fascist (German) and communist (Soviet) regimes in 20th-century Hungary. There are also exhibits related to the Hungarian fascist Arrow Cross Party and the communist ÁVH (similar to the Soviet KGB). In the basement the actual cells used by the ÁVH to torture prisoners.

An actual portion of the "wall" surrounding Hungary during communism.

After a long day of biking and learning, the group returned to the Lodge about 7:15, and headed out for dinner. Something different for the group - Vapiano! Even better - on the walk home there was a much needed and deserved stop at the Chimney Cake Shop. You'll have to ask what one of those delicacies is!
